Java is a computer programming language designed by Sun Microsystems to write programs that can be downloaded from the internet into any browser that is JAVA enabled. These small JAVA programs are called applets. These include functions such as animations, calculations, and other interesting happenings.

Not to be confused with Java, JavaScript is a scripting language that is written right on the HTML page itself. It can be used for many functions behind the scenes. A popular use is to launch a second browser window in order to place an advertisement or navigation page.
